  • I am an amateur photographer. I enjoy taking photos of my children, but I’ve never taken any photography classes and dont know all the photography lingo. I have a Canon T3i camera with the standard efs 55-250mm lens and an efs 55-250mm lens. Before purchasing this speedlite my photos were nice, but I wanted to take them to the next level. I was talking to a friend of mine who know much more about photography than I do and she said an external flash or speedlite would help bring more balance to my photos and take away the red eye and washed out look I was getting using the standard camera flash.

I was researching speedlites and the Canon ones were so expensive. With me being an amateur, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something I didn’t know much about and wasn’t 100 percent sure I would even like. I came across this Apeman speedlite at a great price and figured I would give it a try. When the flash arrived I was very impressed with the packaging and quality of the product. It comes in a very nice padded case with a zippered compartment at the bottom to hold the diffuser and remote control, however there also room to add additional batteries. This flash takes 4 AA batteries and the batteries are not included. It has a metal hot shoe with plastic locking ring, the head rotates vertically 0-90 degrees and horizontally 0-270 degrees, and comes with a diffuser cap and wireless remote, though I cant speak for the remote as I haven’t used it yet. This flash also has a nice digital display that allows you to change the zoom from 24mm to 105mm, and the mode from TTL, Manual, Stroboflash, S1 and S2, though I’m still learning when and how to use each of the different modes.

I have only had this flash for about 10 days now so I’m still getting it figured out, however I have seen a huge difference in the quality of my photos, especially indoor photos where I can bounce the flash off the ceiling. I take a lot of photos of my daughters for practice and I’ve noticed they doesn’t look so washed out and red eyed like they did in a lot of my photos prior to using this flash. So far I am pleased with the quality and design of this product. As I become more comfortable in using it, I will update my review accordingly.

  • I tried not to compare my new flash to my others but hey it’s pretty slick if I do. It’s a bit different than I am use to but it’s solid! Recharge rate is great, which was the first thing I tested. I am shooting with a Rebel t4i so nothing too demanding, though. Strong even light, really nice built in bounce card and filter. I also things its great that it comes with a dome since a dome is a must. And its even better that the case houses EVERYTHING neatly. Even the batteries! It’s always best to keep the batteries separate when you are not using them. So boom, perfect place to keep them. And when you need a backup set and want to keep it loaded, you’re set too.

  • I really love this flash cause it is really compatible with my Canon cameras and I say so cause I have multiple flashes and some of them do not really communicate with my cameras. I like the different features of this one and the ease of using it. I will include a video of some of the things I am talking about like the strobe feature.
This flash is well built and feels durable. Flash are meant to help the photo but it is to fill and make the photo look as normal as possible and not like to make the flash noticeable; this flash helps on doing that and some features for your creativity. Can you press the Helpful(Yes) button under this review so I know someone read it, thanks so much! Enjoy!
